Scope and Contents
From the Series:
This series contains papers, pamphlets, flyers, illustrations, postcards, hand-written notes, email and paper correspondence, forms, contracts, and meeting agendas and minutes pertaining to the women’s group WAIL and SGA, as it was a student group represented by SGA.
Women for Action, Integrity and Learning (WAIL) was a student group founded by Jannelle Vasseur in 1999. The records within this collection suggest that WAIL did not function for long, possibly only from Fall 1998 to Spring 2001. This is reflected in other SGA records in other boxes from following years that did not contain WAIL forms or include WAIL in lists of student groups. Likely, WAIL ended when Jannelle graduated without anyone stepping into her role.
Despite the short run, WAIL was very active and had many projects and held community events. This is evidenced by regular group meetings and active SGA meeting attendance, an Abigail Can WAIL monthly newsletter, correspondence with leaders of feminist and queer community groups in Boston, a WAIL library, a WAIL scholarship for incoming students, regular Women’s Spoken Word Shows, and various other events held for students and the community.
